The chief of the Chereksky area department of inner affairs Mustafa Konakov on whose life an attempt was committed in the morning on September 14th in the suburb of Nalchik (Kabardino-Balkaria), died in hospital.
M.Konakov’s car was shot with automatic guns from a forest near the road to settlement Gerpegezh when he in his «Niva» drove to his work to the regional center Kashkhatau. He got three fire wounds, one of them — in head, and died on the operational table in hospital.
In connection with the murder of the head of Chereksky area department of inner affairs M.Konakov the Office of Public Prosecutor of the republic instituted criminal proceeding under two clauses of the Criminal code of Russian Federation — 222 (illegal storage of firearms) and 317 (encroachment for life of employee of law enforcement body).

As a result of the followed fight with forces of the law and order one of the insurgents was shot, 3-4 more criminals disappeared.
