Ecologists revealed Sochi national park’s pollution

In the territory of the Sochi national park ecologists found out a place of outflow from a chink of the Open company «Gazprom» of the chisel solution used during gas pipe lining of «Southern Stream». They had sent letters, including to the Ministry of natural resources and ecology of Russian Federation and the Office of Public Prosecutor of Sochi town with the requirement to arrange on liquidation of pollution and to lead investigation for finding-out of the reasons of failure as a result of which the outflow took place.

“The seen situation made clear that the failure had occured for a long time ago, the Sochi employee of the Ecological Watch across Northern Caucasus Suren Gazarian informed. However, the builders continued their work, unsuccessfully trying to liquidate consequences of breakdown just pumping out of the liquids. Having convinced of the futility of their attempts, they directed the liquid following from under the ground, to the natural reservoir being nearby”.

The chink, constructing by the method of the leaning-directed drilling, is located on the western surburb of Kudepsta settlement, he explained. It is intended for lining of the overland site of the gas pipe «Djubga-Lazarevskoye-Sochi». On July, 1st Open Company «Peter Gaz» finished stacking of the sea site of that gas pipe; and the method of such drilling is planned to use widely as ecologically safe (!) at the whole Black Sea coast.

The failure occured near the boarding school and the known megalithic monument – the Kudepsta cult stone, the ecologist specified. The greenish gushing forth liquid after drying becomes firm and covers the ground with a continuous crust. According to the functional zoning of the Sochi national park that site is one of the especially protected zone. Not only economic activities, but even making fire is forbidden there.

However the builders of the gas pipe who had roughly broken the protection mode of the Sochi national park, it looks like that are not going to liquidate the consequences of the proceeding failure, Suren Gazarian emphasized. The officials of the national park responsible for protection of the natural complexes, also stay idle.
