The role of public organizations and religious faiths in preventive activities against extremism and terrorism — that theme was discussed on October, 25th in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Adygeya. Representatives of religious faiths, public associations, political parties, journalists were invited to the round table.
The minister of Internal Affairs Vasily Smirnov reported the gathered that in connection with events in Nalchik the republican militia worked in the special regime. Having specified gravity of the situation, he again denied rumors about preparing of terrorist acts in Adygeya. He answered IА REGNUM’s question concerned the loud incident of three days ago near the cathedral mosque of the republican capital. We shall remind: then employees of the republican Department on struggle against organized crime (DSOC) detained a group of young men among which there were attendants and parishioners of the mosque. According to the arrested persons and their lawyer, DSOC employees thrashed them all next night long in the militia station, trying to get recognitions about their participation in acts of terrorism.
«Under this fact, — the minister told, — some material is available. To everyone who committed any illegal act among militia employees and those who were there, the legal judgment will be given. If it is necessary, we will gather these people where it will be necessary to apologize, we shall do that». In his turn, the mufti of Adygeya and Krasnodar territory Nurby Emizh noted that the arrested persons wrote explanatory notes.
Coming back to the theme of extremism and terrorism, the mufti offered to spend conversations with youth together with representatives of public health services, education and militia. He also sounded the initiative of creation of public committees in settlements. The meeting participants supported the offer.
