On May, 22nd during the lunchtime in the main street of Istanbul Istiklal near the Russian embassy the natives from Caucasus commemorated the Day of Memory and Grief. Its initiators several Circassian public organizations of Turkey acted.
As Metin Tsey told NatPress, one of the action’s participants, the main requirements of the gathered were recognition of the Circassian genocide, cancelling of carrying out of the Olympiad in Sochi. There were also those who sounded the problem of Circassia’s independence.
In the action about 1500 people participated. Before its beginning people had gathered on the large square Taksim. Then with flags and posters they passed a kilometer along the street to the Russian embassy.
For keeping the public order the authority involved a plenty of policemen; besides it was rain then. Nevertheless, according to the participant of the meeting, everything the organizers had planned was implemented.
Let’s note, according to the Turkish sources, muhajeers expelled from Caucasus founded in Turkey in 800 new settlements. Besides they formed separate quarters practically in all the cities of the country. By the minimal calculations, now in Turkey nearby 3 million Circassians live.
