As they informed IА REGNUM in the administration of the leader of the republic, by the decree of the president of Kabardino-Balkaria in the republic the organizational committee on preparation and realization of celebration of the 70-th anniversary of the supreme legislative body of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, planned in 2008, was formed.
The organizing committee is headed by the head of the republic Arsen Kanokov; into its structure it was also included the chairmen of the parliament and the head of the government of the republic, as well as representatives of the president administration, deputies, ministers, chiefs of the high educational and scientific establishments, the archival service, representative on human rights.
The first supreme legislative body of the republic was the Supreme Body Kabardino-Balkarian autonomous soviet socialist republic, it was formed in 1937; however, its first session was held in 1938.
The working parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria of the third convocation was elected on December 7, 2003 according to the law of Kabardino-Balkarian Republic «About elections of deputies of the parliament of Kabardino-Balkarian Republic». It consists of 110 deputies, 22 of which work on the constant basis.
