The social movement «Circassian congress» of Karachaevo-Circassian Republic expresses its serious concern in connection with the become frequent facts of violence against the leaders of Circassian public associations in KBR and Adygeya. For the last week there were some gangster attacks in Nalchik as a result of which the activists of the national movements suffered, and there was also an act of terrorism in Maykop where criminals attempted to blow up the house of chairman of «Circassian Congress» of Adygeya M. Berzegov.
We are convinced that the mentioned crimes are committed to finally cause a quarrel between the authority and the national organizations, to cause from the public organizations reciprocal illegal reaction, to provoke mass anti-governmental actions and collisions, to destabilize the situation in the region.
Such classical provocations are known for everybody and banal. They are ineffective in the conditions when the authority easy reacts to criticism in its address, provides freedom of peace actions of citizens, freedom of speech.
However painful reaction of the officials in relation to demonstration by citizens their democratic rights and freedoms, pressure upon public associations and other unreasonable actions create in the mutual relations between the state bodies and the society an atmosphere of tensions and mistrust.
For normalization of the situation it is necessary to investigate immediately the committed crimes, to involve guilty in the responsibility, to renew the open and meaningful dialogue of the authority with public organizations.
