The tragic history and the valuable experience of the Jewish people in the revival of their statehood attract the eyes of the Circassian community of the world. After all, the Circassian nation are the also people in exile, as the Jewish nation were up until creation of The State of Israel. The works of Theodor Herzl the founder of Zionism are reference books for many contemporary Circassian leaders, who consider this outstanding son of the Jewish people as one of their spiritual father.

On August 1, 2012, the International Circassian community will celebrate a Day of Solidarity with the Circassians of the Syrian Arab Republic. We, representatives of Circassian social organizations in Russia, seeking to attract the attention of Russian and international public to the plight of the Circassian community in Syria, of all Russian citizens and our compatriots in this country, hereby declare:

LONDON -- Hours after the opening ceremony fireworks echoed around east London, up to 400 demonstrators marched through a neighborhood near the Olympic Park to protest what they called the "Corporate Olympics."

On June 30, one of the largest Circassian organizations in the North Caucasus, the Adyge Khase (aka the Circassian Parliament), held a conference in Maikop, Adygea. The head of the organization, Adam Bogus, portrayed the plight of the Circassians in the North Caucasus in bleak terms. In a lengthy speech, Bogus addressed the three main hot topics his organization considers the most important: the general strategy for Circassians activists, the return of Circassian Syrians to the North Caucasus and the Circassian ethnic component in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Bogus stated that the division of the Circassians into several administrative subjects was a major obstacle to the further development of the Circassian nation. He said the administrative divisions result in extremely limited communication between Circassian communities in the North Caucasus and amplify the processes of assimilation.

We are representatives of the Circassian Diaspora around the world. The Circassians are the original inhabitants of North-West Caucasus - Historical Circassia. The Circassians defended their historical homeland for centuries against repeated Czarist Russian aggression up until the mid-19th century. After the conclusion of the 100 year colonial war our ancestors were subjected to forced deportation from their historical homeland. The deportation of the Circassian people was among the largest in the modern times, with almost 90 percent deported and one third of them perishing during their exile from disease and starvation.

Today, the Ubykh no longer exist in their homeland, with around 40,000 living in Turkey and a handful of families in other countries. Their language is extinct, with the last remaining Ubykh speaker dying in 1992. Barsaqua and Youghar voiced concern that in the coming decades, the Circassian culture and identity may be completely "exterminated".
